The CNN Collection Sponsors Seminars at footageMarkeplace

CNN Worldwide’s content licensing arm, with over 4.25 million video assets, is sponsoring the seminar programme at footageMarketplace, the UK’s most important footage, stills and production music industry event. The three seminars’ subjects are The Reality of Virtual Reality; What Does it Take to be Successful at Footage Research? Microsoft Reveals How it is Working with Artificial Intelligence – all delivered by key industry thinkers.

The CNN Collection coverage spans the early 1980s through today’s biggest global and local news events. This year, they are sponsoring lunch and seminars at the UK’s most dynamic stock footage event: footageMarketplace, where hundreds of industry figures will gather on May 24th at 195 Piccadilly, (home of BAFTA) to network, learn and deal.

Bobby M. Dicks, Senior Director of Sales & Licensing, CNN Collection, says, “We’re sponsoring the seminars because at CNN Collection we find that staying in touch with future trends and technologies, like VR (Virtual Reality) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) is important because it’s already impacting the type of footage we produce and how tech vendors are accessing footage libraries. In addition, best practices for footage research will be presented.”

Their niche is to provide original, unique content from their brand, talent, original series, aerial shots, custom shots, stills, and other material. They also supply stock footage. Their focus is to provide the best experience to their clients so that they can meet their needs in the branded, exclusive, custom-production and stock footage categories under one roof. The CNN Collection philosophy is: "We sell more than content, we sell collaboration."

Bobby Dicks continues, “It’s important for us to support the footage community domestically and abroad. There is a lot of great storytelling being told in the U.K. and Europe, and we’d like to be a part of that. Our goal is to let visual media professionals know that we’re ready to help make their stories more compelling with our footage collection (which now has over 4.25 million assets), and custom production capabilities, which will give them the most flexibility in telling their stories - with pricing customized for their local licensing needs.”

For the future they are planning to expand their range of content, with more footage of current events. They are selecting and digitizing key historical archival content every day. This is a massive undertaking that brings more footage to the marketplace now and into the foreseeable future. More commercial, branded content will also be added to their library. In addition, the CNN Collection has beautiful and compelling aerial drone footage - both existing shots and custom footage that can be filmed and licensed. And lastly, they are providing custom production services to clients who want to augment their pre/post capabilities or if they’re looking to produce "to-spec" content specifically shot for their storylines.

To implement these plans, they are looking to expand their staff so that clients will receive even better customer service and turnaround times.

Bobby Dicks shares his thoughts on the future of the industry, “The footage industry is thriving and will continue to do so as long as films, documentaries, shorts, corporate presentations, shows, etc. are made. There will always be a need for footage. However, libraries that are not unique and exclusive in their form will become commodities, and consolidation will occur, as we have already seen. In addition, the behind the scenes technology that enables researchers to quickly find, review, and license will be key. That is why we are focused on providing the best customer experience –and why we are focused heavily on creating a footage licensing process with few to no technological barriers. Customers will always want a great user and customer experience and, of course, superb footage. And that’s what we provide.”

footageMarketplace is where you will learn the latest information from thought leaders in their fields. Event Organiser and StockFootageOnline Publisher Bob Prior says, “It’s a great privilege to have the support of the CNN Collection for this event, and I am sure many people will feel these seminars will be inspiring and are sure to provide fantastic insights into the way the industry is trending.”

Registration is now open: Click here to ensure your badge is waiting for you on the day. It is free for industry professionals. A complimentary buffet lunch will be served, and refreshments are available during the day. This is the place to come to network, do deals, and attend seminars by leading industry figures.
