Clips & Footage Newly Representing Lobster in UK London-based Clips and Footage is newly representing the Paris-based Lobster Film Library in the UK. The library was previously represented by Film Images of London, which went out of business last year. The Lobster library was founded in Paris by French media celebrity Serge Bromberg in 1985 and is made up of more than 12,000 hours of moving images including feature films, silent films, newsreels and documentaries. The company operates a preservation programme, saving and preserving film from nitrate deterioration. Beginning with an original print for each and every archival subject, each film is rejuvenated to remove black lines and dirt and then transferred to Digibeta tape. The collection offers all genres of footage from 1905 to 1996 but specialises in early actuality films, silent comedies, early erotica, fashion, jazz and cartoons. Many of the items are rare hand-tinted prints, acquired by Serge as part of an ongoing mission to rescue material that predates 1918.
