Video description

Video produced to explain the history of the windmill, how it works and the restoration work carried out by Essex County Council. Part 2. Interview. Cover notes: "In this video Roger Tabor the naturalist broadcaster and writer talks to Donald Jarvis a local historian and descendent of Willam Moss who built Stock Tower Mill. Vincent Pargeter the Essex County Council millwright explains how the mill works and shows Roger the restoration work he has undertaken on behalf of Essex County Council. The mill is located in the attractive village of Stock Harvard near Chelmsford. It is an ancient mill site which in the nineteenth century housed no fewer than three windmills. Stock Tower Mill was built by William Moss some time between 1801 and 1802 and became the centre of a thriving business. The tower is of brick construction supporting a wooden cap carrying the sails and fantail. Finally we see Stock Tower Mill working once again after remaining idle for sixty years."
