U.S. gun camera footage filmed on 8th March 1944 in the European Theater during World War 2. A U.S. P-47 fighter aircraft of 8th Fighter Command, piloted by Lieutenant A.J. Robey of 63rd Squadron, 56th Fighter Group attacks German Messerschmitt BF109G fighter (The ME-109 is equipped with under-wing gun tubs housing 20mm rapid fire cannons, effective for intercepting bombers, but making it less able to combat U.S. fighter aircraft.) Lt. Robey's gun-camera footage shows hits on the ME-109 during close quarters dog fighting. The ME-109 begins to burn and drops out of sight. (Note: Opening slate incorrectly identifies German aircraft as FW-190.)
