Alleged phone snatch on moped in central London

Buy video

Dramatic video from the Newsflare archive of a group of alleged thieves on motor scooters snatching a phone and the chase which followed through the heart of London.

The clip was captured in March 2017 by a motorcyclist on High Holborn, who decided to switch on his helmet camera after he saw two scooters driving on the pavement and going through red lights.

Now filming, he follows the group who almost immediately mount the pavement again.

We don't see the moment of the snatch because the filmer's view is blocked by cars but suddenly a pedestrian sprints beside the filmer shouting "They got my phone!"

The filmer gives chase as the fleeing scooters weave dangerously in and out of traffic, run red lights and mount the pavement.

Eventually, the filmer is forced to abandon his pursuit as the group runs a red light and flees down Shaftesbury Avenue.
