A bizarre video has emerged of a giant hippo sculpture being towed down the River Thames in London on Tuesday afternoon.

‘HippopoThames’ is the creation of Florentijn Hofman, the artist who created the giant ‘Rubber Duck’, which was seen floating on the Thames in 2012.

In the footage, shot from an office overlooking the river, the 21 metre long hippo can be seen making its way through the water escorted by a fleet of boats.

The arrival of the sculpture at, Riverside Gardens, at the base of St George’s Tower marked the launch of a 30-day festival called ‘Totally Thames’.
